The hills will be alive with the Sound of Music as Pizitz presents their take on this beloved Rodgers & Hammerstein musical. The production is directed by Ashley Perry with music directed by Brent Coleman. Tickets are available at the door.
2. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of Greater Birmingham (OLLI): All Things Political Course
Wednesdays in May | 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

5. Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

Come out to the library’s amphitheater to hear the Birmingham Wind Ensemble play Disney favorites and children’s classics. We can’t think of a better setting for it!
7. Opera Birmingham 40th Annual Vocal Competition
Sunday, May 20 | 6 p.m.
Vestavia Country Club
An elegant evening of wine and song is coming to Vestavia Country Club. Five finalists will take the stage to compete for more than $10,000 in cash prizes and a chance to star in an Opera Birmingham production. 8. Library Spirit Night

9. Summer Reading Kickoff
Thursday, May 31 | 6 p.m.
Library in the Forest
There will be acrobats. There will be jugglers. There will be silk performers. Come out the library to see Global Movement’s circus-style performance as they kick off summer reading. Get hotdogs at 6 p.m. and catch the show at 6:30 p.m. Plus, Grammy nominee musician Zak Morgan and Kona Ice Truck will be at the library at 10:30 a.m. that morning to start the party. One more thing: Teens can take their turn kicking off summer reading at a special event on June 5, so save the date for that too. Plus, find more library events here.
