HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We consider ours a modern love story. A mutual connection, one swipe right and a witty message later, the conversation never stopped. It was 2020, and the world was in disarray. Meanwhile, we were building a foundation of friendship and embarking on the next chapter of our lives together. We like to joke that we found love in a hopeless place.
THE PROPOSAL
Stan’s perspective: Our proposal took place at the very spot our lives first crossed paths. Although we didn’t know each other before we matched on Hinge, Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports is where we both worked. I had originally planned to pop the question on the Tuscaloosa River Walk right outside of the Tuscaloosa Visitors Center, but of course, it started raining. With the help of family and coworkers, I surprised Allie and proposed on her birthday in the same hallway we walked through every day.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of a classic winter wedding. I wanted to wear a stunning, long-sleeved dress with a cathedral veil, and I wanted my bridesmaids to wear velvet. I worked closely with Robert Bullock to create my custom gown, which was one of the most amazing and heartwarming experiences during wedding planning.
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
I would suggest brides start by sitting down with their future husband to list their priorities and vision for their wedding. Pick a date that gives you ample time to book and plan. Next, secure all of your main vendors—photographer, venue, planner/day of coordinator, florist, decor, caterer. Take everything piece by piece, and remember to enjoy the process.
