HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
Zac and I met our freshmen year of college at the University of Alabama. I was going to Zac’s fraternity’s formal in New Orleans with his best friend, but I didn’t know Zac at the time. I met him on that trip, and when we got home, he asked me on a date. I kept saying no out of fear—I had never dated anyone before Zac. I knew that if we dated, it would be serious. Zac kept asking me on dates, and he even surprised me on my spring break trip by showing up at our beach house and asking me out! We went on our first date to Avenue Pub in Tuscaloosa, and I can confidently say I knew that night that Zac was going to be my husband.
THE PROPOSAL
Zac lined up a series of blind dates. The only instructions for each date were to wear a sundress and bring a blindfold. He had seven blind dates lined up on the calendar, and on the first of the seven blind dates, he asked me to be his wife. He picked me up, blindfolded me, drove us down to a beautiful pond, held my hand and led me to the dock. When he took my blindfold off, he was on one knee! He spoke some of the most beautiful words I have ever heard. Afterwards, he led me up the hill to our engagement party, which was filled with all of our friends and family.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
My wedding dress was what I had always dreamed it would be. I loved the train of my dress, the ballgown style and the buttons lining the back of the dress.
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
A goal Zac and I had for our wedding day was to make it holy and let the Lord be glorified! If that is your goal as well, praise Him for the day and for the gift of marriage.
