HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
Schuck and I met just a couple of days after I moved to Nashville from Birmingham. A mutual friend invited me to a group brunch to help me meet friends and introduced us to each other with the belief we’d hit it off. He was right! After Schuck and I started talking, we learned that we’d actually been circling around each other for years at the same parties during our time in college and even a few of the same concerts, sitting just a few rows apart from one another! We quickly became good friends.
THE PROPOSAL
Schuck proposed to me at Cheekwood Estate and Gardens in Nashville. Cheekwood has always been a sentimental spot for me as my grandparents took me there as a child for years to visit the gardens. When we began dating, Cheekwood became our own special place to come each year at the start of spring, when all the flowers are blooming, including my favorites, tulips. Under the guise of my yearly birthday celebration, he proposed under a beautiful arch of tulips and read a heartfelt letter he had written.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
My veil is a family heirloom that was worn by my grandmother in 1964, my mother in 1989 and my sister in 2020 in each of their own weddings. The veil is accented with lace at the end, so I dreamed of a dress that complemented the material. Overall, I loved that my veil accentuated my gown.
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
Don’t let anyone change your mind about what you and your fiancé want. Decide what details are important to you both and stick with them. Take the whole process one step at a time, and it will all come together.
