HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
I attended Birmingham-Southern College with Jake’s brother and sister, Hanes and Honey. I was Hanes’s orientation leader his freshman year. He introduced me to Honey, who ended up coming to school there the next year. She had the idea to set me up with her older brother and got Hanes involved to help make it happen. It was the weekend of the Alabama/Georgia game. I went to Tuscaloosa to meet Jake for lunch, and the rest is history.
THE PROPOSAL
We were meeting my mom at church. My grandparents passed away several years ago and are buried in the columbarium garden there. My mom asked us to meet us there, so she could take flowers to the gravesite in honor of my grandfather’s birthday. It was all a big plan, and while I was looking for my mom, Jake got down on one knee and pulled out the ring box. I was so surprised and touched that he honored my grandparents at such a special moment in our lives.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
The overall elegance and simplicity really spoke to me. The fabric was like icing. What really made me fall in love was the tiered hem at the bottom that led into the train. I felt so beautiful in such a gorgeously designed gown.
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
I wanted to get married in Canterbury United Methodist Church because my parents and in-laws got married there. We wanted to carry on the family tradition, and Jenny Dansby helped make it happen. My advice is to find a great planner that can understand your vision and make it a reality.
