What are Vestavia East para teacher and mom of five Martha Dazzio’s favorite things about her city? Read on to see.
1. All About the People
Community Outreach
To me and my family, Vestavia is all about the people. My daughter is the community outreach SGA officer at VHHS, and I have watched the way our schools do Relay for Life and support a fall charity every year. We support each other like no other, and we have a HUGE parade before the Special Olympics.
2. Rebel Pride
VHHS Football Games
I love how our entire community goes on the football field after a game, win or lose.. the Rebel pride is in everyone.
3. My People
VHHS Class of 1989
These people are the reason I live here in Vestavia, the people I graduated with who have come back to Vestavia to raise their families. A few of them are pictured here, but there are many more. They are the best people in the world.
4. Teaching Team
East Educators
These are the exceptional education teachers that I work with at Vestavia East. They are the most amazing, kind, patient, loving women I know. I love them dearly, they make our school special.
5. Home Sweet Home
My Vestavia Neighbors
My neighborhood off Shades Crest Road is one of my favorites. We love each other and are always there when someone needs something. Vestavia is one big neighborhood to me. My friends and I have a joke that here if you stub your toe you get a Take-Them-A-Meal schedule, so you better put a cooler on your porch. When I donated my kidney to my best friend back in January, this entire community took care of my family. It was amazing.
