HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
Hunter and I are high school sweethearts. We technically met in first grade as we were in the same class, but neither of us will admit to remembering each other from back then. We got to know each other during our freshman year of high school. We became good friends, and that summer, he asked me to be his girlfriend.
THE PROPOSAL
Hunter proposed to me on Jan. 14, 2023, one year and one day before our wedding day! He told me we were going on a date. We then went to the Sibyl Temple in Vestavia Hills which overlooks all of Birmingham. When we got up near the top of the steps, he grabbed my hand and led me the rest of the way. He had a beautiful setup of flowers and candles. Right when I saw this, I realized he was proposing and immediately started crying tears of joy!
PREPARING FOR MARRIAGE
We attended premarital counseling with our pastor. We both agree that this equipped us with invaluable lessons, skills and knowledge that we have already used and will continue to use throughout our entire marriage.
WEDDING MOMENTS
We shared handwritten notes with each other before seeing each other on our wedding day. We were both brought into the room–where our ceremony would be held later that evening–and were positioned around a wall, so that we could not see each other. We then read our notes to each other while trying (unsuccessfully) to hold back tears. We were both so excited and ready to get married, but the moments we shared reading these letters to one another allowed us to slow down and really remember what the entire day was all about.
