How We Met: I (Caroline) had always wanted to go to a fraternity formal, so I asked my friend Ryan if he knew any guys who needed dates. He asked some guys in his fraternity and two guys responded. My roommate Ruthie went with one, and I went with Caleb. It was a wonderful night, and it led to the beginning of our wonderful friendship and relationship.
The Proposal: I (Caleb) had been planning out a proposal with Ryan to take pictures for me. The ring came in on a Thursday. Caroline had gone to dinner that night with some friends, and I was getting fast food at a drive thru and decided that I could not wait to give her the ring.
It worked out perfectly that Ryan was available that night, so we planned out the proposal on the phone. I picked up Caroline from dinner. We started to walk through the Village on Auburn’s campus where we had first met, and that’s where I asked her to marry me. She said yes, and after we sat on a bench and talked to family and prayed over our future marriage.
Favorite Details: Music is important to both of us, so we worked hard to pick out the perfect music for the ceremony. Caleb and I (Caroline) both love traditional hymns, so we wanted that to be the focus of our prelude. My violin teacher, Layla Humphries, and our family friend Lynda Little, a pianist, helped make the prelude and my entrance everything that I had dreamed of. They never missed a note, and it was such a reverent time of worship throughout the entire ceremony. I also loved having both of our families come up as my grandfather led us in prayer. This was an amazing time when I was able to realize what wonderful people surround us both.
