2. OLLI@UA Greater Birmingham Open House
Wednesday, Dec. 6 | 1-3 p.m.
Vestavia Hills Senior Lodge, 1973 Merryvale Road
Come out for refreshments, blues and jazz entertainment from Ray Reach, director of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, and to hear about spring bonus programs, courses and travel opportunities from OLLI@UA. 3. Celebrating the Season
Thursday, Dec. 7 | 7 p.m.
Vestavia Hills High School
Celebrate the season with performances by the high school’s band, choir, dance and theatre departments, and you’ll be sure to be singing “Fa la la la la, la la la la” all the way home.
4. Legacy League Christmas Home Tour
Thursday, Dec. 7 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m.
Various Homes
Tour homes in all their festive glory—plus festive hors d’oeuvres and a holiday gift market at the Samford president’s home. Proceeds benefit the Legacy League’s scholarships to Samford University for students with significant financial need and challenging circumstances. Buy your tickets here.
5. Holiday in the Hills Breakfast with Santa
Saturday, Dec. 9 | 7:30-10 a.m.
Vestavia Hills Civic Center, 1975 Merryvale Road
Come out for a free pancake breakfast courtesy of the City of Vestavia Hills with a special guest from the North Pole. Syrup included for those on the nice list.
6. Vestavia Hills Christmas Parade and Celebration
Sunday, Dec. 10 | 2-4 p.m.
Liberty Park Sports Complex to Alston Meadows
The tradition continues. Find a good spot along the route to watch the parade pass, and then stay for Liberty Park Christmas Celebration with children’s activities, refreshments, music, pictures with Santa and more.
7. Schaeffer Eye Center Family Night with Santa
Tuesday, Dec. 12 | 6 p.m.
Library in the Forest Community Room
Children can listen as Santa shares his favorite stories from the North Pole, and stay after to visit with St. Nick himself afterward. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. and the show at 6:30 p.m. See more kids/tween events the library here.
8. Pure Fitness Reindeer Dash
Saturday, Dec. 23 | 8 a.m.

Work off all that party food at this first annual 2-mile family friendly run. Plus, your registration fee benefits On River Time, which empowers children of abuse and neglect through fly fishing. Runners, dress up in your favorite Christmas character costume and bring your family and friends. Be sure to stay afterward for cookies, hot chocolate, awards and door prizes. Commitment Day 5K Fun Run

Lifetime Fitness
Start off the New Year right with this annual 5K starting at Lifetime Fitness. Registration fees include a T-shirt, race bib and brunch social after the run, and kids will earn their very own 5K medals. Registration is free for kids under 12 attending with a paid adult.
