It’s time for some Friday night lights, plus markets, yoga, family festivals and more this month. Here find the dates and times for everything that’s going on.

1. Rebel Fan Fest

Thursday, Aug. 2 | 5:30 p.m.
Vestavia Hills High School

Come out to see a showcase of VHHS sports and athletic facilities. You’ll be able to meet coaches​ and ​interact with ​players of each sport​​ as well as tour fields, locker rooms, gyms, the press box and stadium. Plus, you can stock up on Rebel gear and concessions.

2. VHUMC Farmers Market

Wednesdays, Aug. 1+8 | 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Scout Square

The farm is coming to you. Make a stop right off Highway 31 at this new market location to shop seasonal vegetables, baked goods and fruits from local producers. It’s open Wednesdays this summer through Aug. 8. For more information, check out facebook.com/VestaviaFarmersMarket/. 

3. Hot Yoga in the Forest

Aug. 3 & 4, 12-1 p.m.
Library in the Forest Observation Deck

Join the experts from Kiva Hot Yoga for these introductory classes for beginners. Bring a towel, mat and water. Loaner mats are available. It’s for ages 18+ and no registration is required. Plus find more library events for adults here.

4. Birmingham Restaurant Week

5. Back 2 School in the Hills

Friday, Aug. 10 | 6:30 p.m.
Fox Field, Cahaba Heights Elementary School

There will be games and rides, music to dance to, and a movie on a lawn. And it’s free. Why wouldn’t you and your kids go? Let’s note the rain date just in case: Aug. 17.

6. Saint Mark UMC Farmer’s Market

Thursdays | 4-6 p.m.
Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 2901 Old Columbiana Road

Get your fruits and veggies! You’ll find many to choose from as well as homemade pickles, jams, jellies, local honey, all-natural dog treats for your little Fido, and handmade candles that melt into a soothing body/hand lotion.

7. Tai Chi at the Library

You don’t have to join a gym—come to this low-impact, slow-motion exercise taught by a certified instructor at the library. Registration is not required, and it’s open to everyone 18+.

8. Rebels Varsity Football Games

Fridays, Aug. 24+31 | 7 p.m.
Vestavia Hills High School Thompson Reynolds Stadium

It’s time for Friday night lights, kicking off with two home games. Don your red and blue, and come out to see the Rebels take on Briarwood Christian on Aug. 24 and Homewood on Aug. 31.

9. Super Smash Bros. Tournament

Friday, Aug. 31 | 4–5:30 p.m.

Teens in grades 6-12 can come out for this video game tournament. Plus find more library events for kids and teens here.
