HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We met on Hinge, and it was only after matching that I realized he lived an hour and a half away in Athens, Alabama, but I was still interested. After about two weeks of texting, we finally made it work to meet and go to dinner. He drove down to Birmingham, and we sat at a small table in the corner of Little Donkey for three hours, talking the night away. At the end of dinner, we knew there was a connection and were already making plans for me to drive to Athens the next weekend to see him. To this day, whenever we find ourselves in Birmingham, we head to Little Donkey for a walk down memory lane.
THE PROPOSAL
On our anniversary, Ben made plans to go to brunch and then head to my family’s lake house to spend the weekend together since that was the halfway point between Birmingham and Athens. As we pulled up and I started to get my bags out, he told me to put my bag back in the car and began walking me to the back deck that was covered in floral arrangements and pictures of us.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
I wanted sleeves, but I wanted something unique. I tried on three or four dresses with sleeves that I liked, but nothing felt quite right. My bridal consultant, Paige, decided to have me try on a strapless, fitted dress and grabbed some fabric to mimic a sleeve. I immediately loved it and knew the best thing to top it off was a bow on the back. I took my dress to Something You Couture, and my seamstress, Ashley, made my puff sleeve dress dreams come true!
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
Stick with your gut! Don’t worry about what other people might think. This wedding is for you and your spouse, so as long as you both are happy, that’s all that matters.
