It’s time for diamonds and art, stocking kids’ spring wardrobes and more to benefit community causes. Here’s our list of what to do this month.

1. Samford Legacy League Scholarship Luncheon        

Thursday, Feb. 13 | 11:30 a.m.

Come out to hear Whitney Capps, a national speaker for Proverbs 31 Ministries and writer for First 5 Bible app, at Samford Legacy League’s Scholarship Luncheon. Whitney is the author of Sick of Me: from Transparency to Transformation and co-host of a radio devotional aired on nearly 1200 stations. The event benefits scholarships for students with significant financial needs and challenging circumstances, and will take place at a country club in Vestavia. 2. Whale of a Sale

Feb. 20-21
Thursday 5-9 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

3. Character Meet & Greet

Saturday, Feb. 22 | 8:30-10:30 a.m.
Vestavia Hills High School

Kids from all over the community are invited to see their favorite characters at this event held by Vestavia Hills High School students. It’s part of a spring campaign by VHHS RISE (Rebels Impact through Service and Engagement) to support the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB.

4. Dinner and Diamonds Benefitting Vestavia Hills City School Foundation

Saturday, Feb. 22 | 7-11 p.m.
Vestavia Country Club

The evening is sure to shimmer and sparkle with dinner, entertainment, and silent and live auctions—all to benefit academic “extras” such as professional development, technology and classroom enhancements for Vestavia City Schools. And props to Liberty Park Middle School student Mallory Smith for creating this year’s invitation art. Tickets are available at vestaviafoundation.org.

5. Market on the Mountain

Feb. 28-29
Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Spring is (almost) in the air. Stock your kids’ spring and summer wardrobe at this sales. Better yet, consign some of their clothes from last year, and you can shop early to call dibs on the best items. Learn more at marketonthemountain.com.

6. Music on the Mountain (Concert for a Cure)

Saturday, Feb. 29 | 7-9 p.m.
Mountaintop Community Church

He’s been on American Idol, and how he’s coming back home to Vestavia Hills to support his high school—and its efforts to support the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB. Come see Walker Burroughs with Emma Klein in concert at this VHHS RISE event.
