The Proposal: Brian proposed behind Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, which is a special place for us both. It has been Brian’s family church home since the ‘50s when his grandparents Louise and Dan Burton became members. My family were members there for a few years, and although Brian and I don’t remember meeting there, my mom has fond memories of numerous encounters between us and Brian’s grandfather.

The Wedding Dress: My dress came from McClendon Bridals in Sylacauga. When I tried it on, I cried and had a moment with my sister and mom. Afterward, we celebrated with lunch at Pursell Farms, and it was the best day. My veil was selected by Bradford Billingsley at Carriage House, which was sweet because I’ve known and loved him and his family since I was little.

Favorite Moment: I got ready and left earlier than my bridesmaids for the first look with Brian. When I was walking to the car, I heard all my bridesmaids singing “Chapel of Love (Going to the Chapel).” When I turned around, they were all dancing and singing on the front porch. In that moment I was overwhelmed by all the love and support I felt. It was the perfect send off for me to go see my groom!

Favorite Details: I really wanted a place for our guests to be able to sit down during the reception. I found these old restaurant booths, and my mom and I sewed slipcovers for them. Ms. Davis at Monograms Plus even monogrammed them with our crest, which was painted by Porter Rivers. They looked incredible and were a good spot for guests to rest from all the dancing.

What We Are Doing Now: Brian and I reside in Vestavia in the Biltmore Estates area with our dog Olive.
