1. Heights Hangout

Saturday, May 4 | 2-7 p.m.
Heights Village, Cahaba Heights

This day of fun will feature Enjoy music from Legal Limit and All in One, and food and beverages from your favorite Cahaba Heights restaurants. There will also be a Kids Zone with inflatables, crafts and more. Admission is $10 or free for children ages 12 and younger, and proceeds benefit the ongoing Beautification of Cahaba Heights through the Cahaba Heights Merchants Association.

2. VHHS Spring Choir Concert

Come out for an afternoon of music performed by Vestavia Hills High School’s choral groups.

3. VHHS Spring Band Concert

Tuesday, May 7 | 6:30 p.m.
Vestavia Hills High School

Hear the VHHS band in concert one last time before football season returns.

4. VHHS Dance Showcase

Vestavia Hills High School’s dance program will show off its work this year in this show.

5. Hazardous Waste Collection Day

Saturday, May 11| 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex Parking Lot

Bring your paint, bulbs, batteries and other hazardous waste items for this collection event held by the city of Vestavia Hills and Republic Services. Find more details on accepted items here.

6. Exam Study Breaks

May 15+16+20
3, 5 & 7 p.m.
Library in the Forest Historical Room

Need a break from studying? The library’s Teen Department is offering 30-minute study breaks with snacks and games for grades six to 12.

7. OLLI Presents: Classical Greece

Thursday, May 16 | 1:30-3 p.m.

Greek history never fails to fascinate! This event’s speaker will cover Athens and Sparta, the Persian War, and the golden age of Athens under Pericles.

8. Opera Birmingham 40th Annual Vocal Competition

Sunday, May 19 | 6 p.m.
Vestavia Country Club

An elegant evening of wine and song is coming to Vestavia Country Club. Five finalists will take the stage to compete for more than $10,000 in cash prizes and a chance to star in an Opera Birmingham production. All reservations are required by May 10 for this black tie optional event.

9. Vinyl Cutting 101

Thursday, May 23 | 4–5:30 p.m.
Library in the Forest Makerspace

From preparing images to applying the finished product, participants will learn what’s involved in creating custom vinyl decals with the library’s Vinyl Cutter.

10. Summer Reading Kickoff with Roger Day

Thursday, May 30
10:30-11 a.m. & 6-7:15 P.M.
Library in the Forest

Come out for a concert by Roger Day to kick off summer reading. All ages are welcome, and free Kona Ice will be served after the morning show and Mosquito Burritos will be served at 6 p.m.
