Fall has arrived, and there are still fun ways to enjoy it in the community while keeping safe social distance.
1. Steel Magnolias

Theatre is back—with social distance. This performance by Vestavia Hills High School will be limited to 100 attendees, as well their performance of Night of the Living Dead the week of Halloween (exact date TBD).
2. 50 Years of Learning Without Limits

This year marks the 50th anniversary of when Vestavia Hills City Schools opened its doors for the first time. What started as two campuses and 2,500 students now has nine campuses and more than 7,100 students. To celebrate the school system will honor the inaugural class of the Educator Hall of Fame selected by committee of stakeholders based on nominations that were received. 3. Red Cross Blood Drive
Oct. 5 | 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Vestavia Hills Civic Center Dogwood Room
Donate your blood to those in need at this Red Cross event close to home.
4. Virtual Heights Heroes 5K
Oct. 9-25
Run a 5K anywhere of your choosing to benefit Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights teachers, staff and students. Participants can run, walk, or crawl the race distance wherever they want during the race dates. You can also find their typical, sanctioned route on the signup website for anyone wanting to complete it. Register at adventuresignup.com.
5. Parent Awareness Meeting- Social Media with Anna Gaston
Wednesday, Oct. 14 | 12-1 p.m.

How do you best parent in the social media age? Learn more at this event from Help the Hills. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it is limited to 30 participants in person at City Hall and 100 participants on Zoom. Reserve a spot and find more information at helpthehills.org/events.
6. Shop Save & Share
Oct. 14-25
Shops Throughout Vestavia Hills and Birmingham
We’re all about an excuse to shop for a good cause, and you can’t beat the Junior League of Birmingham’s Shop Save & Share fundraiser. A digital or printed Shop Save & Share card costs $40, and then you receive a 20 percent at more than 400 participating businesses—including many in Vestavia Hills. You can purchase and download a card at ShopSaveandShare.net or at select retail stores.
7. Alabama vs. Georgia Tailgate
Oct. 17 | 6:30 p.m.
Vestavia City Center
Watch the game on a giant screen with social distance at the shopping area’s green space. This will be a socially distanced event. Some chairs are available, but you are encouraged to bring your own to ensure you are comfortable. Kick off is at 7 p.m., but come by early to eat or pickup dinner and set up your spot.
8. Halloween in the Heights
Oct. 31 | 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Cahaba Heights Shops
Bring your family to trick or treat at participating Cahaba Heights Businesses! Participating stores passing out candy will be marked with orange balloons. Find more information here.

(Virtual) Market Noel

This annual Junior League of Birmingham holiday shopping event is moving online follow COVID-19 safety precautions. With the purchase of a $15 General Admission ticket, you get access to its virtual marketplace with more than 50 stores from across the nation Tuesday, Nov. 17 through Sunday, Nov. 22. Virtual events will also be held throughout the week. Proceeds from Market Noel go back into the community through the JLB’s 40 community projects benefiting women and children in need.
